Really Great Kids!

You know...despite the fact that sometimes I complain about the normal frustrations of motherhood, I can't help but realize that I am the luckiest girl in the world! I really do have amazing kids! These two are so wonderful and really love each other! I've seen them show so much kindness to each other and are truly concerned when the other one gets even the smallest hurt or "ouchy". Kara is so mature and thoughtful for her age and really goes out of her way to help her little brother, or include him in her very imaginative playtime games. You can tell they love to be together and I sure do love being with them! They are so much fun! I thank the Lord for the two amazing people he sent me as my children, and am so grateful for the chance I have to learn from them daily!

First Father and Son Camp Out!

Jeff was so excited to take his son on their first ever Father and Sons camp out with the ward. I think he had been planning it since the day Trevor was born! Despite Sheryl's motherly concerns about her BABY going out into the woods with just Daddy to take care of him...it seems all went well! Trevor didn't want a smore...just the chocolate was all he needed to be happy! I also heard that it was EXTREMELY windy when they were trying to set up the tent. They needed three men just to get it set up! Trevor watching this decided early that he wanted nothing to do with that tent! When Jeff tried to get him to go in, he kept saying, "Tent, blow 'way. Tent, blow 'way!" I guess Jeff somehow talked him into getting in after putting several tons of rocks inside to hold it down! I guess they had a good time because Trevor hasn't stopped talking about camping with daddy and Jeff's already planning the next one! Kara and Mommy had a really fun Girls night anyway...we camped out in our living room and watched girls movies!

Cousins in Town!

Sheryl enjoying niece Carlie on her lap andTrevor, Masen, and Kara gathering around. May 23rd 2009.

We were so excited to see Terri and Dusty's family in on May 23rd! We met up with them at Grandma's house and enjoyed seeing how big both Masen and Carlie are getting! Sheryl was sad she had to share the time holding baby Carlie. It was so good to see you all!

Camp out in the Backyard!

Jeff was so excited to take Trevor on the Father and Son's camp out with the ward this year, but he had to do a trial run! So a few weeks before, he and Trevor set up the tent in the backyard. It worked! Despite mommies doubts, they really did sleep out there all night! Kara even joined them! Mom slept inside, all alone, in her nice warm bed! They sure loved the bonding time with dad!

Jeff's Utah Genius Award

On May 12th Jeff was awarded a Utah Genius Award at an Awards Banquet in Salt Lake City. He won 3rd place in the state of Utah for number of patents. He has 19 patents for 2008 and a few more already this year! He also made front page of the Daily Herald the next day! We are so proud of you Jeff!

They labeled him as "Genius" when we walked in the door of the Banquet...Jeff couldn't wait to take it off! We also met our city Mayor who was there to recieve an award for the number of patents from residents of our city (our city took 5th in Utah). Jeff represented HALF of all our city's patents! We still tease him about all this...we call him "Our little Genius"! I don't think he appreciates it much! :) But I'm too proud of him! He will have to deal with it!

Girls Day Out!

The day before mother's day I got a real treat! I got to have a girls day out with mom, Ashlee, Patti and Colleen! We had been planning this day since we heard Colleen was going to fly out for Mother's Day! (Except mom, who was totally surprised by her arrival!) I can't believe I had almost an entire day of fun while Jeff took care of the kids! Thanks ladies! I can't wait to do it again! (I probably won't get another break like that until someone comes and visits again...so start planning your next trip SISTER!)
